What is InstaCode?

InstaCode is RES RFID’s bulk RFID tag-encoding system. The Insta-Code Station is a compact benchtop unit that serializes 100+ tagged items in under a minute — no printer, no ribbons, no consumables in the loop. Plug into a standard 120V outlet and your network; your staff can encode at line speed after brief training. No installation crew, no special infrastructure.

Why does printer-free encoding matter?

Today you have two ways to get encoded tags. You can order them pre-encoded from a service bureau — and pay a per-tag premium on every order, lock your data scheme weeks in advance, and wait through proof approvals and lead times. Or you can buy an RFID printer — and encode one label at a time, feed it ribbons and consumables, and absorb the misencodes. Both models were built around printing. If your items are already tagged — or your tags are pre-printed — you’re paying for a print engine you don’t need.

InstaCode removes the printer from the equation. You buy the most economical blank tags available — from any source — and serialize them in bulk, on demand, the day you need them. The per-tag premium disappears. The lead time disappears. The consumables disappear.

Encode only what you need, when you need it. No batch minimums, no bureau lead times, no over-ordering pre-encoded inventory that sits on a shelf. Run 50 tags or 5,000 — on demand, the moment your operation needs them.

Can I get tags encoded as a service?

Yes. Send us your serialization scheme and your tag order — we encode, verify every tag, and ship ready-to-apply stock. No hardware on your floor, no training, no minimum infrastructure. This is the right fit for one-time projects, seasonal volume, or testing RFID before committing to in-house equipment. See pricing →

Can I encode my own tags in-house?

Yes. We place an Insta-Code Station at your facility on a monthly fee — hardware, software, support, and updates included. Your team lays items on the station and encodes at line speed. Phone support gets you running and keeps you running; there’s no capital purchase and no maintenance contract. When your volume grows, add stations. See pricing →

What does an Insta-Code Station require?

A standard 120V outlet, a WiFi or LAN connection, and table space. That’s the entire site requirement — no compressed air, no network engineering, no installation crew. The station arrives configured for your serialization scheme.

What if I encode a tag wrong?

Mistakes don’t waste tags. Standard tags can be wiped and re-encoded at the station — catch the error before tags go out the door, fix it, and rerun. No replacement stock, no throwaway cost.

What does InstaCode cost?

Encoding as a service: $250 per order plus $0.10 per tag. We encode, verify, and ship ready-to-apply stock.

Insta-Code Station: $500 per month, flat. Hardware, the Serialization App, support, and updates included — encode as many tags as you want. Above roughly 2,500 tags a month, the station is the cheaper path, and every tag past that is effectively free to encode.

For comparison, pre-printed and encoded tags from a service bureau typically run on the order of a quarter to a half dollar each, before lead times. Use the calculator below to find your own breakpoint.
